Artist: Leah Goren

On Tumblr, I came across a post with pictures of Leah Goren’s ceramics. They were funky and quirky jars and vases, with a repeat pattern of female faces. I loved the style and the retro feel to them.

Leah Reena Goren is an illustrator and surface pattern designer living in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated in 2012 from Parsons School of Design with a BFA in Illustration. Here are some more of her ceramic pieces:

Leah Goren’s work extends to clothing too, including tote bags and scarfs. She also creates beautiful and fun prints, as well as collaborating with Anthropologie and Frankie Magazine.

What I love about her products is that they are one-of-a-kind pieces as all the ceramics are hand built and hand painted. This means they are not perfect and each piece has its own personality; the unique nature makes them more appealing as you know the effort and time that will have been taken in creating each piece. I hope to one day own some of her pieces!

There is an interesting FAQ section of her website which discusses the methods she uses in depth: http://www.leahgoren.com/index.php?/faq/
